CHASING HER DREAMS
EXCERPT:
Devin marched under the elegant iron archway straight to her grandmother's grave. "Grandma, why am I here? Please help me unlock the secret of my dreams. Who is the woman in white, and what does she want with me? You advised me to chase my dreams and I'd find love." Devin let flow the tears that had been swelling inside for a year.
She lifted her head as a sudden cold gale carried a strange whistle upon the wind. As though she were a puppet on a string, her face rotated toward the abandoned lighthouse. The light shone in the tower.
"How could that be happening? The light hasn't worked in years!"
Stumbling to her feet, she dashed between the maze of headstones and out the cemetery gate. Just like unpredictable island storms, the wind began to howl and rain started to pour down in sheets. Devin jerked off her sandals and ran barefoot to the base of the lighthouse. Out of breath and shaking from sudden exposure, she stared up at the small oval window fifty feet above. White lightning exploded across the eerie-looking sky, and in one sharp instant, she saw her. The woman stood at the window, her shadowy face staring down.
Devin's fist flew to her mouth.
The ghostly figure of a man magically appeared at the woman's side and placed an unearthly arm around her waist. Another clap of thunder shook the earth. Devin jumped and blinked, and the two smoky shapes dissipated into thin air.
"No! Come back!"
She turned and saw Kipp running toward her. Weary, she walked into his open arms and rested her head on his broad chest. "Did you see them?"
REVIEWS:
Chasing Her Dreams is a rousing read that pulled me in like a net drawing in fishes. I was so mesmerized, it was hard to let go. I like the descriptiveness Stacey Coverstone employs in the storyline, giving the reader a good sense of the Maine area. She has enough compacted in this read, to even make a whole other book and still not lose the reader. The introduction of Devin and Kipp gets right to the point of matters. I love stories that are concise, and leave nothing hanging in mid-air. Though some may not believe that true love can happen so fast, sometimes things happen for a reason that involves one's destiny. This story certainly is one that makes the reader believe. I was completely swept away with this romantic tale.
Linda L. at Fallen Angel Reviews

Ms. Coverstone has created a fascinating tale here, of love that passes through generations and coincidences that bring people together. The coastal setting of Maine is beautifully described, and the rugged hero Kipp is a classic Maine fisherman. I've been to this area many times and appreciated the accuracy of the geographic details. I liked the premise of this story, that fate has a way of directing souls to find each other, and that we are often much more closely connected to random strangers than we might imagine. Ms. Coverstone has a solid premise in Chasing Her Dreams, and it's a quick read with a rather neat twist at the end.
Dandelion at The Long and the Short of It Reviews

In Chasing Her Dreams, Ms. Coverstone has woven a delightful tale involving a bruised woman, a charming hero, and everlasting love. For fans of short, romantic stories, this one will keep you entertained from the first word to the last.

I enjoyed this story by Ms. Coverstone because I was feeling the same pulling feeling that Devin was experiencing. I wondered what was so special that she had the strange imaginary pull to the lighthouse. I loved the surprise ending and thoroughly felt entertained throughout the entire story. I would definitely recommend this story to other readers.
